Education Task Force
Task Force group leaders: Dr. Leo Kluijtmans and Dr. Joost Hoenderop
The IGMD TaskForce aims to develop a challenging, exciting and international training environment for clinical fellows and basic scientists in the field of genetic and metabolic disorders. The major objective of this committee is to provide TOP-notch educational programs for post-docs, PhD students and undergraduates within the research disciplines of the Institute for Genetic and Metabolic Disease. The programs will be presented in several formats including a Winterschool program, work-shops, student exchange platforms and specialized lectures by experts in the field.
IGMD WINTERSCHOOL PROGRAM
This IGMD Winterschool will be the first event in the series of annual conferences on topics related to genetic and metabolic disorders. The Winter School topics follow the excellent record of the IGMD research programs. These educational meetings are planned within the Winter time and consist in general of a dynamic program during 3-5 days at the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre.
DIFFERENT TOPICS
On February 28 – March 4, 2011 the first IGMD Winterschool will be organized on Kidney function and will provide the researchers a Molecular Tour Along the Nephron. Each year a different topic will be selected which is linked to the ongoing research activities within the IGMD.
ORGANIZED FOR JUNIOR RESEARCHERS AND BASIS SCIENTISTS
Mainly aimed at PhD students, junior post.doc researchers and clinical fellows performing research and preparing their career tracks in science. More senior post.docs will also enjoy and learn from the specialized organized and highly interactive and educational programs. The main purpose of the Winterschool is to provide an opportunity for junior researchers and clinicians from different international universities to meet and learn about each other's ongoing research activities and knowledge from esteemed senior invited speakers. Participating candidates are encouraged to present their current research progress and challenging questions. Besides the presentations and discussions made by the candidates, a number of internationally invited guest speakers will be giving special talks on selected topics. There will be ample time for the candidates to interact and discuss with the experienced scientists in their field of interest. In addition, there are also interactive workshops during these days where candidates will practice their own skills.
INTERNATIONAL SIGNATURE
The IGMD Winter school has a firm international character and approximately 20 participants can be registered. Candidates will be selected based on CV, motivation letter and also citizenship since the course is strongly internationally oriented and candidates form different countries are especially stimulated to participate.
